My name is Elvin Stanley,  Im 59 years old, overweight and bald, and Ive been  seperated over 7 years from my last partner, and this is going to be my last career enterprise,  Ive had a succession of varied jobs over the years (too many to list them all ) but Ive been a  labourer, roofer, projectionist, dockyard worker, scaffolder, and lately a taxi driver for about 24 years....but now Im off to run my bar Pacinos down near the beach in Sinhanoukville.

         Why  Cambodia?..... because Ive been going to Thailand for 5 years and twice a year at that,  the climate, food, and  nightlife agree with me and I really hate the cold weather....Anyway,  foreigners are restricted on how many days they  can stay in Thailand,  like you can only stay  90 days in then you must spend 90 days out, plus your forbidden from  leasing/owning bars or property....however in Cambodia things are a lot  less restrictive you can get a business visa for a whole year, and lease a bar in your own name ....which is exactly what Ive done.

       Why would anyone leave England for a third world country ? actually fourth world country !! , its very poor, and I wont make a fortune out of the bar, but Im not there to make a fortune anyway... but I'll tell you some of the reasons why...

 Firstly, Im pissed off with being a Taxi Driver !, Im fed up struggling to earn a decent living with the constant increase in the amount of plates being issued every year by this local authority, who only seem interested in making our lives more difficult, they simply dont care whatsoever about the fact that we'are earning the same money now that we were earning 12 years ago, and with the increases in fuel tax/licences/insurances/maintenance/rents/ etc we are in fact worse off in real terms !!, and thats without every day expences that have increased over the last decade, its time to chuck it in......

Secondly,, Im not really in the best of health not helped by working long hours especially at week-ends, and Ive got repetative strain injury to my left wrist and left leg which is very painful at week-ends Ive had to take pain killers on saturdays to get through the night, probably caused by all the gear changes Ive made over the last 25 years or so (no im not getting an automatic) , and coupled with the fact, that Im not getting any younger (none of us are !) im finding I just cant put up with the crap anymore.... 

Thirdly, Im really saddened by the state, and the way our country has gone down over the last 10years, with no-one in Political field prepared or able to stop the flow of  asylum seekers or the dregs of eastern Europe from coming here, and here's a little known  fact, there are 96,000 illegal Nigerians living in and around in London alone (probably mini-cabbing) ! I went to my doctors a while ago and all the patients waiting were foreign as well, how much have they contributed to the Health Service eh?...nothing I suspect...its just every week there's something or other in the press about some Council banning the word Christmas or the Muslims upset about something, plus you've got  the PC brigade telling 'understand' the little shits that roam around estates at night causing trouble with this new gang culture, stabbings etc....unfortunatly for me I can remember a better Country with happier nicer  people in it....I really feel like the oppressed minority and of course we're taxed to death as well ! once apon a time you could put your rubbish out for the bin-men, not now !, a mate of mine got fined for putting it out a day early (as he was going on holiday) when he came back the Council had fined him !.....Surely, I cant be the only person who feels this way, but if this is England,  I dont want it !

             So, Im off and retiring down to south-east Asia and with the cash ive saved from my house sale is a much better alternative.  ...I can live down there very happily, and cheaply ...walking along the sun-kissed (almost) white beaches, eating fresh fruit, salads, rice/noodles, and the best ever seafood you'll ever taste , and as important, cheap beer !, only 13p each, or 50p if you buy somebody else's , and even better, all the footy matches live, lovely !
